Time Passes Slowly

I've never been actually INJURED before, so all this is a new experience.  I realize this is pretty minor as things go, but it is ME, not someone else.  I've never felt so RESTRICTED.

Like, I don't leave the house often, but now I CAN'T!  I can't even get down to the basement.  I have the cat litter boxes down there and trays of veggies (4 kinds of lettuce, celery, radishes, carrots, and bok choy) to water (Deb is graciously taking care of that for me).

This recovery is going to take a good bit longer than I expected.  I AM getting better, but "better" is not "much better"!  The rib muscles still hurt, but not as much or often.  I have better use of my right arm (the left is fine).  The right shoulder joint doesn't actually hurt, but it is very awkward.

I have a bit of a dilemma with the shoulder.  The hosital gave me a sling to wear (day and night), but I can't wear it AND use the walker.  So, for now, I'm just trying to rest it as much as possible.

*SIGH*

I can see why you are frustrated as you are used to being busy all the time. I am glad your neighbor is so kind to help you. Glad you are starting to feel better.

I am glad you are finding some improvement no matter how small. It is all steps in the right direction. I am really glad you have such a good neighbour to help out too.

It's gonna be a slow go but you'll get there.

I concluded they are called "slings" because as soon as you can you sling them into the back seat of the car - sometimes as you are driving away from the emergency room.
Take care and let the Mews cuddle you. Blessings to neighbor Deb.

Your neighbor is an angel in disguise!

Glad you are on the mend be it slow, its still going in the right direction.

Maybe if you wear a button up shirt, leave some open, and then you can place your arm inside when you are not using the walker. That would give it more support than not using anything. A zip up sweater or jacket would work that way, too.

Thanks for the update Mark. There are loads of us all around the world concerned for you.

I think I understand exactly what you mean by the "I know this isn't terribly serious in the overall scheme of things, but it's ME"! I typically adopt that kind of thinking when I'm laid up with something. It does serve to make you more appreciative of your good health once you're back to normal.

I hope you've got yourself some good books to read.

Mum felt the same way when she broke her ankle in 2019. No nearly so much running around, going places outside the house, but no trips to the dungeon for her either! This will pass!

Be careful with that shoulder and make sure you have good mobility. If needed do PT and DO IT! Believe me, the guy who is now in a wheelchair due to a hit and run 20 years ago, it will pay off in spades, gold and diamonds in years to come. Purrs you heal up soon
